Stan Bentvelsen

Stan Bentvelsen, the protagonist in our HIGGS documentary (see: HIGGS documentary), is beginning to get into top shape. It’s obvious in every way. Just as top athletes fine-tune their training programs to get into top condition, Professor Stan is currently completely focused on sharpening his Atlas team in order to be able to peak at the proper moment.

This afternoon we met again briefly to prepare for the days of filming next week and we immediately noticed that the expression on his face is already totally ‘intent’ and that a great many things were simultaneously running through his head while he spoke to us, things of a strategic, tactical and scientific nature.

The comparison to a top coach came to mind as he told us how he is putting the finishing touches on the ideal composition and lineup of his research team.

But what made him all agog today, in his workroom at the Science Park in Amsterdam, is the brand-new interactive Internet white board with which he can communicate with his colleagues at CERN near Geneva.

In short: No one need doubt that Amsterdam team led by Stan Bentvelsen will be in top shape when the biggest physics experiment in history kicks off this summer. Our challenge is to ensure that our film will be just as sharp as the Bentvelsen Team.
To be continued.
