Sunday March 15 ‘Beyond the Game‘ had a special screening in Tuschinski Amsterdam. Afterwards, the ESL Pro Series Final was played. Manuel ‘Grubby’ Schenkhuizen and documentary maker Jos de Putter were present. Jolien Steenman and Ellis Bakker made this video for HUMAN.

Next week (Dutch film week starts Thursday March 26) you can watch ‘Beyond the Game‘ in the following Dutch cities and cinemas:

Untill the 26th of March you can watch the documentary in Amsterdam (Ketelhuis, Rialto en Studio K), Utrecht (Louis Hartlooper Complex) and Cinerama in Rotterdam.
The documentary ‘Beyond the Game‘ will be released in Dutch cinemas this Thursday the 19th of March. René Glas, Dutch PhD candidate and lecturer in the Department of Media and Culture at the University of Amsterdam, wrote about the film by Jos de Putter on his blog:
‘By taking eSports and its players entirely serious, Beyond The Game manages to pierce deeper into game culture than most other media reports and documentaries made from the ‘outside’ of gaming (apparantly, De Putter had no prior knowledge about or direct interest in eSports or computer games before making this film).’
Saturday March 21st the documentary has a screening in cinema Het Ketelhuis at 7.30 pm. A Q&A (question and answer) with filmmaker Jos de Putter will take place afterwards.
